Tadelakt

Tadelakt is a custom lime-based stone plaster, used since ancient times throughout homes and public buildings in Morocco. It was even applied on the surface of interiors and exteriors of ancient Egyptian homes and temples, imported for the pools in Roman Baths and can be found in medieval castles of Spain and Italy. Tadelakt is very durable and the plaster can cover large areas without the need for expansion joints. It “breathes” naturally, and because of natural oils and waxes applied as a finish, water cannot penetrate Tadelakt. This plaster is often used to create sinks, tubs and showers in any shape or form. It can be used on floors, walls and ceilings providing a seamless organic look to homes and buildings. Color pigment is added to Tadelakt allowing brilliant hues that seem to glow from within. The texture can be “antiqued” and finished to look hundreds of years old.
